Who We Are—First Timothy
Evangelical Lutheran Church History

Our History

First Timothy Evangelical Lutheran Church was incorporated with the Indiana Secretary of State in June 1988. We were presented our charter from the Indiana District of the Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod in August 1989.

Our first service was held outside under the cool, shady trees on the banks of White River in Riverside Park. We then transitioned to Room 212 in the old building of Indianapolis Public School (I.P.S.) Number 75, located at 14th Street and Bellview Avenue in the Haughville community.

In 1998, we transitioned to a 2.3 acre campus located at 2190 Lafayette Road and worshiped in a 14ft. by 70ft. trailer. In September 2000, we started construction on a 5,800 sq. ft. building—our church. We dedicated the new facility In August 2001. The church building was a Laborers For Christ building project.

 Mission And Vision

The Mission and Vision for First Timothy is to serve people in need of spiritual food and to spread the word of God through Jesus Christ. We envision growth in the area of being a full-service filling station for the soul, starting a school (Kindergarten through 4th grade), and constructing an additional 4,500 sq. ft. of space for the school. We also envision a music ministry that will support ministering to God’s people and permit us to provide music all around the world to all nations.
